Exceptional documented mid-war production US M1 Carbine from the personal collection, The U.S. .30 Caliber Carbines” manufactured at Winchester's New Haven factory under contract with the War Department, this carbine have been in service with the Army or the Marine Corps prior to the D-Day invasion with the serial number having been applied on March 17th of 1944. An entirely correct example that has seen neither restoration nor refinish, the gun features an 18" round, undated Winchester barrel with blade front sight, milled “I.R. Co” adjustable rear sight, type-2 barrel band with no bayonet mount,15-round magazine well, and push-button safety. All of the internals are correctly marked for Winchester. Complete with a blued 15 round-magazine and an oiler/khaki canvas sling.

Overall Condition

Excellent, the metal surfaces retain around 96-97% of their original parkerized finish with faint high edge wear and no rust or pitting observed. The markings are well-struck and correct, all are unbuffed,, and no import mark is present. The Walnut stock and handguard rate as very fine, each having only the occasional minor handling mark, and neither with any cracks, chips or repairs. Both the inspection mark and the Ordnance Wheel remain sharp. Mechanically flawless, the action is smooth, and the bore is graded as excellent, remaining mirror-bright with sharply-edged rifling and no rust, frost, pitting or oxidation is visible, and the ME measures “1” on our gauge.
