This is a World War II Canadian 26mm flare pistol. It shoots 25 mm star shells or parachute flares. It came with a 46 ft wood sailboat that I bought in the early 70s. I sailed that boat for thouands of miles with no engine, no electroncs, no radios and only kerosine lights. I kept this flare gun loaded with white star shells to let ships know where we were if it looked like a collision was possible. It served that purpose several times. I also had red star shells and parachute flares for distress signals, but never needed to use them. This is available in Port Aransas for cash only, no trades. It looks very similar to British Webley and Scott flare guns.
